"If you want to do it right use these folks to get it right the first time. We looked at and priced four companies for a 20kw whole house generator. I learned a lot during the process. I also learned a lot about what several of the other companies didn't know.
E & W are specialists and it was clear from our first conversation. They have installed over 3,000 generators and it shows. Also, they were neither the most expensive nor the cheapest, but I do believe we selected the best. They are professional, they showed up on time (all of the time as the installation was done over the course of 5 different visits due to work required by the gas vendor and the building inspectors which they coordinated on our behalf). They did a thorough job on training us and they offer an annual maintenance program to ensure the generator is serviced and tested annually.
They have a 24/7 response line in case of emergency. We are all set whereby the generator is connected to our email so we receive notifications that the actual weekly scheduled test is taking place and if anything needs attention. Unlike some other reviews online we didn't ask them to fix someone else’s installation. They just got it right the first time. I would highly recommend you put them in your consideration set if you are looking for a professional whole house generator installation. We sure are glad we did."
During the preparation of the project proposal Michael Williams Sr. was very careful to spell out each aspect of the system they would provided, how each item would be installed, and how long it would take.
Once the contract was approved, E&W quickly delivered the equipment to the job site and began the installation. They took special care to unload the heavy equipment carefully. Their team discussed the safety measures that must be taken for each step of the placement of the generator before each step was taken.
Because of the number of trees in my yard E&W chose to hand dig 40 feet of trench to avoid damaging the existing tree roots and to avoid other utility lines in the area. The very difficult underground work was completed without a problem.
Mike Williams Jr. was responsible for the installation of the automatic transfer switch and the re-work of the existing electrical panels.
He took great care and pride in safely installing the equipment correctly and fit it neatly into a very tight area. I only wish he had installed the original electrical panels, I am sure they would have looked and worked much better. Michael gave me advance warning before each time power had to be turned off so I could turn off my computer and sensitive electronic equipment.
Each time I had a question, either Mike would cheerfully take time to carefully explain the answer.
At one point during the installation Benito, one of E&W's technicians has to enter the crawlspace under the house. While he was there he noticed an odor that turned out to be caused by two leaking gas fittings. He pointed this out to me and I called my gas company in to fix the problem. I am grateful that he spotted this problem before it caused a fire and damaged my home.
Matt and Michael Sr were both involved in the testing and start up of the system and they spent a great deal of time making sure that everything worked well. They also spent a good amount of time explaining the function of the system and the software.
I should not forget to mention Lynn and Teresa who supported the project from their office. They were both very professional and personable answering my questions on the phone and expediting schedule issues.
We are extremely happy with the work that the entire team from E&W did and we would be happy to recommend them to anyone considering the installation of a new emergency generator.
